Starting a blog—with scepticism
I have been observing the info-society since the very beginning of the nineties. During this twenty years I have seen a lot of trends, fashions and buzzwords (including but not limited to such ones as Web 2 – LOL!) enthusiast users, cunning marketing gurus and other spin doctors could come up with. No doubt, out of all the ridiculous and/or lame phenomena it was the emergence of the blog that embarrassed me the most.
What is it for? Who writes them and why? Who reads them and why? Who reads them, in the first place, if everybody writes them? And why don't we call them simply what they are – diaries? And why is it so revolutionary if it was invented several thousand years ago? Should everybody be a writer/journalist indeed? What consequences shall we expect if the publication threshold is lowered to a level where practically anyone can become an opinion leader? Is it a real danger at all? Etcetera, etcetera.
I am not willing to answer these questions here – for the simple reason that I can't. As a did not really see what the point of blogging is, I have kept a safety distance from it—until now.
So why now?
Why not? At the moment, it's just for fun. Trying to create a trace in the universe. ;o) Unlike others, having a degree in journalism I have at least a good excuse! ;o)
Basic objectives?
None. I just give it a try and will see where it developes. If you are lucky enough, I am running out of enthusiasm in two months or so. If not, then—well, I do not know what then.
If I must declare a kind of ars poetica by all means, then it would be great to mention a sublime aim, like changing the world for the better, or something like this. But the teenager years are way over, and I am way too cynical to target something I won't achieve. So let's stick to something humbler:
Dear Reader, given that it's supposed to be a photoblog, the most desired effect a photographer could aspire for would be if you found here a few pictures that makes you ponder for a few seconds.
Well, should it happen and even the world will be changed a little! ;o)
